There was a recent ABC special, What Is Jeopardy!? Alex Trebek and America\u2019s Most Popular Quiz Show.\u00a0During this special, 79-year-old Alex Trebek discussed his stage four pancreatic cancer diagnosis and the future of the show without him. He says that whenever his final episode comes around, he will have a 30-second farewell message for viewers. Trebek also says, \u201cDon\u2019t ask me who\u2019s going to replace me, because I have no say in that whatsoever.\u201d\r\n\r\nAccording to TV Line, there main reason for Trebek not having a say in it is enforced by himself. \u201cIt\u2019s not a decision that would be up to me. And I would not make myself available to\u00a0presenting an opinion,\u201d he explains to TV Line. \u201cI would leave it up to the people in charge.\u201d\r\nAlex Trebek has 'no say' in future 'Jeopardy!' successor... why?\r\n\r\n\r\nTV Line also spoke with Jeopardy! executive producer Harry Friedman about Trebek's role in deciding on the future game show host. \u201c[Alex] really has no interest in being involved in that process,\u201d he admits. \u201cWe would\u00a0welcome\u00a0his opinion, obviously, but he feels like it\u2019s really not up to him. If he just had to choose! He reveals, \u201cWhen people ask me who I\u2019d like to see replace me, I say, \u2018Well, it\u2019s probably going to be a woman, and she\u2019ll have to be bright, she\u2019ll have to have a good sense of humor\u2026\u2019 Uhhhh, let\u2019s see\u2026. Betty White! Betty White is my choice.\u201d\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nDespite anything, Trebek plans on staying with Jeopardy! as long as he can (until his contract ends). Even with a cancer battle, he remains upbeat and positive for the future.
