Linus has spent six decades waiting patiently in the pumpkin patch, and somehow the tradition still feels just as charming. It’s the Great Pumpkin. Charlie Brown first aired on CBS on Oct. 27, 1966, giving generations of viewers Charlie Brown’s famously disappointing bag of rocks, Snoopy’s Flying Ace adventure, and one very sincere belief in a mysterious Halloween visitor.
According to Attractions Magazine, now, the Great Pumpkin is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026 with everything from limited-edition collectibles to special museum events. Starbucks, Hallmark, and the official Peanuts Store have introduced anniversary merchandise, while fans can also celebrate with screenings, seasonal attractions, and even a pumpkin-shaped soundtrack release.
Great Pumpkin Turns 60 With Plenty of New Collectibles
Starbucks kicked off the anniversary season with a 10-piece Peanuts collection that includes Snoopy drinkware, plush items, a themed tote, and other Halloween-inspired pieces. The company also added limited-time secret-menu drinks inspired by Charlie Brown and Snoopy, both featuring pumpkin cream cold foam. Hallmark has joined the celebration with ornaments, blankets, decorations, and other items recreating memorable scenes from the animated special.

Fans looking for something especially nostalgic can also turn to the music. Craft Recordings is releasing Vince Guaraldi’s soundtrack on a pumpkin-shaped vinyl record featuring a candy-corn design. Guaraldi’s music, including “The Great Pumpkin Waltz,” became an essential part of the special’s autumn atmosphere, making the unusual record a fitting collectible for its milestone year.
Charlie Brown’s Halloween Tradition Still Brings Fans Together

The Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, California, will mark the anniversary on Oct. 17 with a big-screen presentation, crafts, live music, and costume activities. Jason and Sean Mendelson will also discuss the production and Guaraldi’s score. Elsewhere, several theme parks are bringing Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and their friends into family-friendly Halloween celebrations throughout the season.

What gives The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, such staying power, though, has little to do with merchandise. The 25-minute special captures familiar childhood emotions with remarkable simplicity: wanting to believe in something everyone else doubts, hoping Halloween will finally go your way and discovering that your friends will still be there when it doesn’t. Sixty years later, Linus is still in that pumpkin patch, Charlie Brown is still getting rocks, and families are still returning to watch it all happen again. The Great Pumpkin may never arrive for Linus, but the tradition surrounding him certainly has.
