Alley Mills is heading back to Port Charles, and longtime General Hospital viewers already know that usually means trouble is not far behind. The actress will reprise her role as the unpredictable Heather Webber nearly two years after viewers last saw the character leave town.
According to TV Insider, the Alley Mills General Hospital return begins Thursday, November 5, giving the two-time Daytime Emmy winner another opportunity to step into one of the soap’s most complicated roles. Executive producer Frank Valentini welcomed the news and teased that there is “never a dull moment” when Heather is around.
Alley Mills Returns as Heather Webber This November
Mills first took over the role of Heather in October 2022, becoming the fourth actress to portray the character. Georganne LaPiere originated the part in 1976, followed by Mary O’Brien and Robin Mattson. Mattson eventually became the performer viewers most closely associated with Heather before Mills stepped into her shoes decades later.
Mills quickly made the character her own and earned Daytime Emmy wins for her performance in 2023 and 2025. Viewers last saw Heather on October 28, 2024, when she left Port Charles with her son, Steven Webber. Before her departure, doctors discovered that a faulty hip replacement had caused cobalt poisoning, prompting questions about whether the condition contributed to some of her violent behavior. After Heather received treatment, the courts overturned her conviction, and Steven eventually agreed to take his mother away from town. Now, the Alley Mills General Hospital comeback suggests her quieter life may not last much longer.
Mills Was a Familiar TV Face Long Before Port Charles
Soap fans know Mills from General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful, while others remember her as Norma Arnold on The Wonder Years. Heather Webber gives her a much darker role, with the character tied to kidnappings, murders, family secrets, and the reveal that she was the Hook killer terrorizing Port Charles.
Heather’s history stretches much further back. She once sold her baby before later becoming his nanny, plotted against romantic rivals, and repeatedly found herself institutionalized or imprisoned. More recent storylines connected her to serial killer Ryan Chamberlain and revealed that they were the biological parents of Esme Prince. With producers already promising more trouble, Heather’s November return could reopen old wounds and create entirely new problems.
