Despite Earlier Comments, Elton John Reportedly Agrees To Posthumous Performances With Digital Help

Elton John has long been one of music’s greatest live performers, making his farewell tour an emotional milestone for fans around the world. Now, new reports suggest the legendary singer could once again appear before audiences—but in a very different way.

According to Yahoo Entertainment, multiple entertainment outlets citing unnamed sources, John has reportedly agreed to a seven-figure deal for a digital concert experience in Las Vegas. Neither the singer nor the venue has confirmed the reports, but they have already sparked conversations because they appear to contrast with comments he made years ago about digital performances.

Reports suggest a high-tech Las Vegas residency

Recent reports claim an Elton John hologram production could debut at the new Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas in 2027. The show would reportedly feature digitally created performances based on recordings made in advance, allowing audiences to experience a lifelike version of the music icon on stage.

The reports also suggest the production could include appearances by digital versions of collaborators such as Dua Lipa and Kiki Dee. However, none of those details have been officially confirmed. If the project moves forward, it would likely follow the same style of immersive digital concert experiences that have grown in popularity in recent years rather than relying on traditional hologram technology.

Fans remember what Elton John once said about performing as a hologram, and similar technology

What makes the reports especially noteworthy is that John previously expressed skepticism about the idea of continuing to perform digitally after his lifetime. In a 2018 interview, he described the concept as “spooky” and joked that it would only happen under very unlikely circumstances. Those comments have resurfaced as fans debate whether the reported project represents a change of heart or whether the current reports simply lack important context.

For longtime admirers, the discussion surrounding the Elton John hologram reflects how rapidly entertainment technology continues to evolve. Whether or not the reported residency ultimately becomes reality, it highlights the growing interest in finding new ways to celebrate legendary performers long after they step away from traditional touring. Until an official announcement arrives, fans can only wait to see whether this ambitious digital concert experience becomes a reality.
