Published June 25, 2026

Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are heading back to the magical world of the Owens family. Warner Bros. released the first full trailer for Practical Magic 2 on June 24, offering a closer look at the long-awaited continuation of the beloved 1998 movie.

According to People, Bullock and Kidman return as sisters Sally and Gillian Owens, whose family has spent generations living under a deadly romantic curse. This time, the danger reaches a younger generation, forcing the sisters to reunite, embrace their powers and protect the family they have spent years trying to keep safe.

The trailer begins by returning to the bond at the heart of the original movie: the unbreakable connection between the Owens sisters. Stockard Channing also appears again as Aunt Franny, who reflects on how Sally’s and Gillian’s relationship has survived time, fate, and the many supernatural challenges placed in their path. However, the focus soon shifts to Sally’s daughters. Joey King plays Kylie, while Maisie Williams portrays her younger sister, Antonia. The two grew up hearing stories about the family curse, which supposedly causes the deaths of the men loved by Owens’ women. Although Kylie initially dismisses those warnings as family dramatics, the danger becomes difficult to ignore when she begins falling in love.

Xolo Maridueña plays Kylie’s romantic interest, whose life appears to be threatened almost immediately. In one alarming scene, he is struck by a car while riding a bicycle and carrying flowers. Kylie then reportedly takes it upon herself to solve the family’s problem, setting off a dangerous chain of events that draws Sally and Gillian back into the supernatural world they know so well.

After learning that Kylie has gone searching for a way to end the curse, Sally and Gillian set out to find her. Their journey appears to involve reconnecting with their powers, confronting painful family history, and crossing paths with a mysterious man named Ian Wright, played by Lee Pace. The trailer suggests that the sequel will preserve the original movie’s combination of romance, humor, danger, and witchcraft. More importantly, it once again places sisterhood at the center of the story. Sally explains that having someone who understands both who a person once was and who they will always be creates an especially powerful bond.

The upcoming movie also marks Bullock’s first film role since 2022. In addition to starring, she and Kidman serve as producers. Original screenwriter Akiva Goldsman co-wrote the new story with Succession writer Georgia Pritchett, helping connect the sequel to the atmosphere and characters audiences first met nearly three decades ago. Returning cast members also include Channing and Dianne Wiest as the Owens aunts. With familiar faces joining a younger generation of witches, the movie appears ready to explore how an old family curse continues to shape new romances and relationships. Fans will find out whether the Owens women can finally break it when the sequel opens in theaters on September 11, 2026.
