Making use of “bodycam, dash-camera, and cellphone footage,” On Call delivers a “cinema verité effect” that grips viewers and glues them to their seats as they experience a fictional world of policing. In the preview, Lieutenant Bishop is seen rallying her team after a traumatic shooting. “I know we’re all raw, but let’s keep it in check. We have a multi-agency task force looking for these mother—-s, that’s their job. Your job is business as usual. Any questions?” She said.
This approach to storytelling sets On Call apart from Lori Loughlin‘s previous movies, and she has fully embraced the tasks required for the role. In an interview, she shared her excitement with fans, “I was game for anything. No makeup, dark hair pulled back, uniform, just a very raw look. I jumped at the chance.”
