Jodie Foster graced the Golden Globes red carpet wearing a simple sleeveless black dress with bead detailing around the collar and armholes. She wore her hair in a short side part and kept her makeup and jewelry minimal.
Towering beside the series icon was her 23-year-old son, Kit Bernard Foster, who is the youngest of her two children. Kit wore a navy suit and paired it with a black polka-dot bow tie that sat elegantly on his white shirt. He had on a pair of glasses and seemed happy to be his mother’s plus one at the star-studded event.

Kit’s older brother, Charlie Bernard Foster, was nowhere in sight; however, Jodie gave him a shout-out during the ceremony. She won the Best Female Actor in a Limited Series award that night for playing Chief Liz Danvers in the series True Detective: Night Country.
Upon receiving the recognition, she immediately thanked her family, naming Kit, her scientist, and Charles, who she claimed was starting his acting career. She wished for them to understand the joy that comes with doing hard, meaningful work and be inspired by her. Next, Jodie acknowledged her partner and the love of her life, Alexandra Hedison.
Jodie Foster thanks the team behind ‘True Detective: Night Country’
She did not forget to appreciate the cast and crew of True Detective: Night Country, specifically naming showrunner Issa Lopez, her co-actor Kali Reis, and the Indigenous communities that inspired the show. True Detective: Night Country has run for four seasons so far on HBO’s streaming platform, Max.
The series has gathered impressive ratings of up to 92% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 81 over 100 score on Metacritic. Back in September, Jodie also took home an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series or Movie for True Detective: Night Country.
Jodie’s fans took to social media to celebrate her win, even though the actress hardly has an active presence online. “So well deserved! Jodie Foster is incredible in everything she does, and ‘True Detective: Night Country’ proves it once again!” someone gushed, and another commended how she mentioned the crew behind the show during her acceptance speech.
Some were disappointed that Jodie won the award, as they expected Christin Milloti to take home the prize for playing Sofia Falcone in The Penguin. “Cristin Milioti was robbed, but is not the always great Foster the one to blame, but the blind voters of the prize,” an X user argued.
Meet Jodie Foster’s youngest son
The 62-year-old shares Kit and his older brother Charles with her ex-partner Cydney Bernard. They broke up when Kit was about 8, and Jodie got remarried to Alex six years later. Unlike Charles, Kit prefers a quieter life outside the spotlight and would not be pursuing a career in entertainment.
Jodie admitted that he is quite shy and sensitive, but is also the nicest person she has ever met. She once recalled waiting for many years before letting Kit watch her 1991 film Silence of the Lambs due to his soft nature.
Foster said in an old interview that Charles is good at improv and is an amazing artist. He was active in school theater productions at Yale as a crew member and actor from 2017 to 2021. The iconic actress and mother once told More magazine that Charlie wanted to be famous since he was 10, and would plead with her to get him a job.
She tried her best to hide her celebrity status from both of her sons, such that 4-year-old Charlie assumed she was a construction worker. Kit’s recent appearance at the Golden Globes has got fans talking, too, and they are mostly impressed by his career path as a scientist. “Jodie Foster having a scientist son must be the less shocking thing ever— of course she has,” someone gushed.
