61-year-old Jodie Foster has cemented her place in Hollywood, literally, after attending a handprint and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Friday, April 19, during the 15th annual TCM Classic Film Festival.
The event itself was special for honoring Foster’s contributions to the industry in her nearly 60 years of acting. But it also coincided with another special occasion. Foster also celebrated her 10th anniversary with her wife, photographer, actor and director Alexandra Hedison.

Foster had her handprint and footprint marked in the ground outside the TCL Chinese Theatre in a ceremony attended by her longtime friends Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest, as well as her wife Alexandra, who PEOPLE reports had a front-row seat. Also in attendance was Diana Nyad, the subject of the 2023 biographical sports film Nyad, in which Foster had a supporting role.

“The person that I have to thank the most, really, is my wife Alex, who I cannot believe was so generous to give up our 10-year anniversary day to come and do this with me,” said Foster in her speech. “This is my life. I love my life, and I’m so grateful that all of you guys think I’m OK.”

“Like, what are you thinking?” Foster continued to gush about Alexandra. “How come you didn’t say no? I love you so much, and I’m so grateful for the life we have together.”
Speaking with People after the ceremony, Foster shared that Hedison, 54, was more than happy to adjust their anniversary plans to accommodate Foster at the handprint ceremony. “I asked her, and she was just like, ‘Oh yeah, that’s okay. We’ll figure it out. That’s okay. We’ll go to dinner,” Foster explained.
She went on, “We had a good day yesterday, so we kind of made it happen yesterday and then we got a whole weekend of fun things to do,” adding that the chance to be honored at the ceremony was “amazing.” Her childhood home was right near the theater where the handprint ceremony took place, so the idea of this tribute was familiar to her.
“I had no idea,” she admitted. “I thought it was just something for me, because it meant something to me as a kid, but I didn’t realize it was such a big deal, and all my friends were like, ‘Wait, what? What’s happening?’ So it’s kind of great.”
“It’s kind of like that Kilroy thing we used to do,” Foster went on to muse. “When we found wet cement somewhere, we’d do the little Kilroy, I was here, and I did. I mean, I grew up 10 blocks from here, so we came here a lot. We came here, and I put my little feet in the cement, and yeah, it’s kind of the continuation of a tradition because the film business, for me, is my family.”
She gets to have a special feeling of gratitude whenever she’s with Hedison, too. “They are very private when they’re around people they don’t know,” a source explained to PEOPLE, “But when they’re together, it can be like they’re in their own world.” True to form, they married in a private ceremony in 2014 and it’s been nothing but bliss ever since.
