Wendy Williams’ health condition is getting worse after being diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023. According to a file issued in court by her legal guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, the 60-year-old former talk show host has not improved and is said to have become “cognitively impaired, permanently disabled, and legally incapacitated.”
This revelation occurred after Morrissey sued Lifetime Entertainment for releasing a documentary Where is Wendy Williams? detailing Williams’ life since her illness began. The documentary, which aired in February 2024, focused on how she had been doing since 2022, and was said by Morrissey as a way of “exploiting Williams” since the disease has “no cure and symptoms get worse over time.”
How is Wendy Williams doing?
Fans of Wendy Williams and The Wendy Williams Show have been curious about how the former talk show host is doing since she stepped away from the public eye. In 2022, her bank, Wells Fargo, restricted her account, stating that the circumstances surrounding her health required a legal guardian.
Hence, Sabrina Morrissey, a lawyer, was appointed as Wendy Williams’ temporary guardian to monitor her progress and make financial decisions on her behalf. In February of this year, Sabrina sued Lifetime Entertainment and other media agencies to prevent the release of confidential information about how Williams was doing.
However, despite Morrissey’s claims of “exploitation,” the release of the documentary was approved, and a few days before it aired, Williams’ caregivers publicly disclosed that she had been officially diagnosed with FTD since 2023. They shared that Williams was still living a normal life and would soon recover. The documentary, Where is Wendy Williams? aired as announced.
More about the show host’s health update
Recently, a court file detailing Wendy Williams’ health update, issued by Morrissey, was seen. The legal guardian addressed the release of the documentary, stating that Williams was “exploited” because she was not in a position to decide whether to be recorded. She explained that the TV personality was “filmed without a valid contract and released without Guardian’s consent.”
Amidst these legal issues, Williams’ family has spoken up about being prevented from seeing their loved one as only Morrissey could attend to her. Although Morrissey has not made an official statement as regards this, the family shared that they have not been able to care for her as they desired and could only hope for her recovery.
