Wendy Williams is currently facing a severe health challenge and, as a result, has taken a break from her widely watched talk show, The Wendy Williams Show, since 2021 to address her ongoing concerns. The media personality sought medical help and was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia last year, but she didn’t make it public.
However, with her approval, her medical team in an official announcement recently disclosed to her fans that Wendy is currently facing substantial hurdles in her daily life as she navigates the complexities and uncertainties of living with these debilitating neurological conditions.
Wendy Williams diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia
“As Wendy’s fans are aware,” the press release reads, “In the past, she has been open with the public about her medical struggles with Graves’ Disease and Lymphedema as well as other significant challenges related to her health.”

They further added that the public announcement was made to ease the concerns of fans who had witnessed her deteriorating health condition during some episodes of her show. “Over the past few years, questions have been raised at times about Wendy’s ability to process information,” it continued. “And many have speculated about Wendy’s condition, particularly when she began to lose words, act erratically at times, and have difficulty understanding financial transactions.”
“The decision to share this news was difficult and made after careful consideration,” noted her team, “not only to advocate for understanding and compassion for Wendy, but to raise awareness about aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and support the thousands of others facing similar circumstances.”
Additionally, they emphasized that despite the health challenges, the media personality remains in good spirits and receives the necessary medical support tailored to her condition. “Wendy is still able to do many things for herself,” her team emphasized. “Most importantly, she maintains her trademark sense of humor and is receiving the care she requires to make sure she is protected and that her needs are addressed.”
