Bill Murray has put up his five-bedroom, four-bath property in New York City for sale, and fans are fascinated upon sighting the house, which is covered in yellow paint. Murray’s choice of color was a bold move, and his fans are now adding it to their potential house wall colors.
Experts say yellow represents positive energy and warmth, adding that it can be a good choice for home exteriors or interiors. Interior designer at Decor & Decor, Rossella Marzochella, says yellow is one of the most tasking colors to work with, but when done right, it can evoke the right reactions.
Bright yellow hue helps sell homes
Rossella advised homeowners to allow experts to work with their colors, as yellow can sometimes overpower the surrounding architecture and the neighborhood in general. She recommended softer, muted shades, such as buttery yellow, rather than bold, saturated tones.
When pairing, it is best to apply grounding colors like deep charcoal, muted navy, or crisp white, especially on trims and shutters. Rossella added that you can play it safe by touching up areas like the doors and windows with smaller touches of yellow.
How much is Bill Murray’s house selling for?
Sean Scully and Liliane Tomasko listed Bill’s house, which contained the famous Ghostbusters firepole, at $3.69 million. It is situated on 19 and 28 Ludlow Lane, in the area described as “Hollywood on the Hudson.” Murray and his then-wife, Mickey Murray, reportedly spent up to $305,000 to acquire the home in 1985.
They sold it a decade later to actress Didi Conn for $1.2 million, who flipped it again until it became Sean and Liliane’s residence. The Colonial-style house listed by Marjorie Galen of Ellis Sotheby’s International Realty also features a free-standing two-car garage under an office studio.
