Debbie Harry recently sent social media into a frenzy with photos from her campaign for Cutler and Gross’ collaboration with Great Frog on their new eyewear collection. She is again in an Ad for Gucci, and although photos have yet to be publicly released, Debbie is sure to blow fans away.
The rock star and actress proves age is just a number, as she is snagging these modeling gigs in her late seventies. She is surprised but grateful to have lived so long, as most people she related with as a young lady are long gone.
Debbie Harry is happy to continue aging
Debbie’s looks have undoubtedly opened doors for her, and a few artists, including Andy Warhol, have used her as their muse. Debbie and Andy became close friends, with the latter throwing a party at Studio 54 to celebrate her 1979 release, Heart of Glass.
She has also posed for Robert Mapplethorpe and her photographer ex-boyfriend Chris Stein, who was also her Blondie bandmate in the ‘70s. She is one of the most photographed female rock stars in history, and her face is still sought after by top brands.
Life at 80
At 80, Debbie is not slowing down and even wishes for more work, despite her lineup of shoots and a just-concluded tour, which saw her on the Coachella stage. She has no plans to retire and is currently working on a new album, which will be the ninth of her career.
Debbie enjoys being vegetarian and finds leisure in exercise such as speed walking her Russian Chin dogs. Amid the turmoils that punctuated her career, including drug addiction, financial difficulties, failed relationships and health concerns, Debbie believes her strength and ability to keep moving has helped her last this long.
