Richard Simmons was 76 years old when he died suddenly on July 13. New information has been emerging, first from family, and now from Simmons’ autopsy report, which allegedly indicates that he was covered in cuts and bruises when he died.
Knewz.com reportedly obtained a copy of Simmons’ autopsy report generated by the Los Angeles Medical Examiner. The report points to falling as the primary cause of death. Simmons had delayed receiving medical attention because he did not want to spend his birthday in the hospital.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has officially classified Simmons’ cause of death as an accident. He died a day after his 76th birthday from a “sequelae of blunt traumatic injuries” caused by “a ground level fall.” Underlying cardiovascular disease has been listed as a “contributing condition.”

On August 21, Simmons’ spokesperson, Tom Estey, had shared similar news, echoing the rundown that Simmons’ brother Lenny received. “This morning, Richard Simmons’ brother Lenny, received a call from the LA Coroner’s office,” Estey shared that same day. “The Coroner informed Lenny that Richard’s death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor.”

Additionally, according to Knewz, Simmons’ body was littered with bruises and cuts, further revealing the extent of the trauma he suffered when he died.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Department compiled a report that details Simmons’ final days, drawing from his autopsy, medical history, witnesses, and testimony from his household management staff.
Witness accounts collected for the report indicate that on the evening of July 11, Simmons had experienced significant dizziness. The following morning, he was found on the floor. His household manager helped him into bed.
“He refused to seek medical care because he wanted to spend his birthday (07/12/2024) at home and agreed to seek medical care the following morning (07/13/2024),” the report reveals.
