Candace Cameron Bure is celebrating 28 blissful years of marriage to Valeri Bure. In honor of the occasion, Bure shared a series of throwback photos that chronicle their relationship in a way that has her fans absolutely enchanted by their wholesome love story that’s straight out of a fairytale.
It was Candace’s Full House co-star Dave Coulier who actually helped the actress and the Winter Olympic medalist meet. He introduced the two after Candace and Loughlin made heart-eyes at some of the cute hockey players during a charity game. They had their first date the next day, and before another year passed, they were engaged.

Over the weekend, Candace celebrated her milestone 28th wedding anniversary with Valeri and shared her joy with her 5.7 million Instagram followers through a series of throwback photos. They’re all the stuff of a romantic dream, but the first one is probably the sweetest, showing the couple much younger, right around when they met for the very first time.

Fittingly, Candace captioned this post, “28 years today! How it started… and how it’s going.”
In keeping with the theme, the carousel of images proceeds to create a timeline of their enduring relationship, showing off romantic wedding photos and candid family pictures alike. One of the latter shots includes a group photo of Candace, Valeri, and their three children when they were young: Natasha, Lev, and Maksim.
A follow-up shows a very similar group arrangement, but this time, the kids are all grown up, and Candace and Valeri are celebrating their 28th anniversary, ready for many more celebratory years to come.
Balancing it all
28 years of marriage has brought great happiness to both Candace and Valeri, but it was not without quite a bit of work, the Fuller House alum admitted in her 2013 book, Balancing It All. “My husband is a natural-born leader,” she explained within its pages. “I quickly learned that I had to find a way of honoring his take-charge personality and not get frustrated about his desire to have the final decision on just about everything.”
She went on, “I am not a passive person, but I chose to fall into a more submissive role in our relationship because I wanted to do everything in my power to make my marriage and family work.”
All that work is worth it, Bure has assured. “He makes me laugh a lot, which is a very good quality,” she shared with Us Weekly back in 2019. “He’s just such a bold person. We always have interesting conversations. I love his passion and his strength so very much. He’s so supportive of me and our children.”
Happy 28th anniversary to Valeri and Candace Cameron Bure!
