Sports Illustrated model Christie Brinkley recently turned 70, but that has not stopped her from sizzling in swimsuits and on red carpets. The gorgeous Covergirl is known for her stunning physique and wide smile, which is sure to turn heads. Brinkley is also generous about sharing her beauty secrets, which all begin with embracing the aging process.
Ahead of her birthday in February, Brinkley took to Instagram with a message for her followers, noting that she will “dance into my sensational 70s.” She advised her fans to “love, laugh, and LIVE IT UP!” as she expressed gratitude for her life so far. More recently, Brinkley got candid about what goes inside whenever she rocks a bikini at 70.

The mother of three took a cue from her youngest daughter, Sailor Brinkley Cook— who, like her mother, is starting to make waves as a model. During a chat with PEOPLE for Sports Illustrated Swimsuit’s 60th anniversary, Brinkley revealed that Sailor often nudges her to throw on a swimsuit or any daring outfit at all on days she feels unsure. “She’s like, ‘Mom, you’re beautiful, embrace it, you know, go with it, lean into it.’ And I’m like, ‘Ok, I shall try,’” she explained.

In Brinkley’s words, Sailor is now “very strong” after having experienced self-doubt in the past as well. The 25-year-old has joined her mother on the runway for events like the Elie Tahari show for New York City Fashion Week and posed for Sports Illustrated and Vogue.
Looking good in a two-piece at 70 does not come without effort, and Brinkley has been kind enough to share how she achieves and maintains her youthful glow. Last year, while discussing aging with the host, she shared three simple tips—sunblock, a vegetarian diet, and an adventurous nature—at the Tamron Hall Show. Brinkley loves working out, engaging in daily 20 to 30-minute spin classes, and going for a bike ride or using her Peloton.

Brinkley has also learned to embrace her wrinkles, especially after Botoxing her forehead twice and ending up with a “droopy eyebrow.” She did admit to fixing her laugh lines with injectables. However, she gets this procedure only once a year “as opposed to back in the day when I would go in several times during the year to say, ‘Make sure fix this or fix that.’”
