Music has always been a collaborative effort, throughout all its history, with artists inspiring artists and styles branching off of styles. On May 24, the world of music mourned the loss of the legendary Tina Turner, and it is to her that singer Miley Cyrus paid tribute during the 2024 Grammys with a dress as dazzling as the “What’s Love Got to Do with It” singer.
The 66th Annual Grammy Awards were held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday night and showed off hours of musical appreciation. Cyrus enjoyed a huge career win that evening with her first Grammy ever and for her celebratory performance, she changed into a new outfit – her third one that night – that paid beautiful homage to the late Turner.

The 2024 Grammy for Best Pop Solo Performance goes to: Miley Cyrus, for her January 12 release, “Flowers.” Per tradition, she ascended the stage and readied a performance of the song that earned her the big win, all while managing a wardrobe swap. When Cyrus performed, she was garbed in a shimmering silver outfit that exposed her sculpted torso and dazzled the eye with strands of silver hanging from every inch thanks to the work of designer Bob Mackie.

She strutted out and performed with her whole heart, all while donning black strappy heels, and with her hair meticulously styled in a dark, fluffy bob. Everything about her presence, from her outfit to her powerful moves, served as one big love letter from Cyrus to Turner, as well as Cher, both of whom also often sported Mackie designs, reports InStyle.

It was the Queen of Christmas herself Mariah Carey who presented the award for best pop solo performance on Sunday. She was faced with a very excited Cyrus, who gushed, “This M.C. is gonna stand by this M.C. for this, because this is just too iconic.”
“Flowers” would also secure Cyrus’s second Grammy of the evening, this one for Record of the Year. Cyrus was nominated a total of six times this year.
Cyrus had an emotional rollercoaster of a time of it even through her victorious performance. At one point, she teased the audience for not singing along by saying, “Don’t pretend like you don’t know the words.” Then, she ad-libbed, chanting, “Started to cry, but then remembered I…I just won my first Grammy!”
Congratulations!
