The death of Bob Saget shocked family, friends, and fans alike. Saget’s death occurred on January 9 from blunt head trauma just hours after performing standup. He leaves behind widow Kelly Rizzo who has shared her grieving experience since the devastating loss. Nine months after Saget’s death, she shared a video and post sharing how she copes day by day, a process that she admits is still very hard.
Saget and Rizzo met in 2015 through a mutual friend and by 2017 they announced their engagement. Saget married the Eat Travel Rock TV host in 2018. Saget had been married to Sherri Kramer from ’82 to ’97 and the couple had three daughters. According to Saget, “Kelly and my daughters love each other, so it really is some magical thing that happened.” So, many family members are still mourning. How has Rizzo been getting through each day and how does it feel at this stage?

Earlier this week, Rizzo took to Instagram to share a video of herself and Saget, side by side in a position to perform pushups. They are performing a fun bonding exercise for couples, being asked questions of who best fits a certain descriptor, and that individual performs a pushup. “9 months without him. It feels like forever and also one day all at the same time. I love looking back on these videos to see how much joy and silliness and fun and love we shared,” she began her caption.

She further shared, “The pain and grief ebbs and flows and I still have some days that just suck and there are days that are lighter now too. But every day there is a palpable hole where he used to be. But at the same time he left behind SO much residual love and laughter that he still feels so near and present. It’s all quite an enigma.”
Saget’s death means passing milestones and celebrations without him
Saget and Rizzo got married on a crisp late October day in 2018. Rizzo’s dress was long-sleeved and lacy. Back when their engagement became public knowledge, Rizzo had said “Bob and I are incredibly lucky to have found each other.” Their anniversary is approaching and that fact is very much on Rizzo’s mind as she continues to share her feelings through the journey of grieving.
“As our anniversary nears later this month, I’ll share more thoughts,” she assured, “but for now I’ll leave you with this silly video. We had a blast making these. Miss you and love you so much, honey.” This is consistent with Rizzo’s practice of sharing heartfelt posts about Saget on important days related to them both.
