Rita Wilson Stuns Fans With Huge Back Tattoo That Looks Just Like Son Chet Hanks’ Ink

Rita Wilson surprised fans with a dramatic new look, revealing an enormous cross design stretching across her back. The 69-year-old actress and singer showed off the elaborate body art in a topless Instagram photo, immediately drawing attention to just how closely it resembles a tattoo worn by her son, Chet Hanks.

According to AOL, the Rita Wilson tattoo reveal arrived as she promoted her new song, “Stranger With Age,” and seemed perfectly suited to its message. Wilson celebrated getting bolder with age in the caption, although she stopped short of confirming whether the striking new ink is permanent.

Wilson posed with her back facing the camera, giving followers a clear view of the large cross design while smiling over her shoulder. Famous friends quickly showed their support, with Reese Witherspoon writing, “Love this!” and Brandi Carlile praising the unexpected look.

The design may look especially familiar to anyone who follows Wilson’s family. Her 36-year-old son, Chet Hanks, previously revealed a remarkably similar piece covering much of his own back. He first gave followers a glimpse of it during a trip to Colombia before sharing a clearer look months later, making the resemblance between mother and son hard to miss.

Wilson Has Spoken Candidly About Appreciating Her Body

Wilson’s bold reveal also follows her reflections on her body after breast cancer. In 2015, she underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. More than a decade later, she has spoken about learning to appreciate what her body endured and how it carried her through recovery. She has now been in remission for over 10 years.

That makes the Rita Wilson tattoo moment feel like more than a simple celebrity makeover. Whether the artwork proves permanent or temporary, the image fits with a woman who has increasingly spoken about confidence, survival, and embracing change rather than resisting it. After decades in Hollywood as an actress, singer, producer, and half of one of the industry’s most familiar couples, Wilson appears comfortable having a little fun with expectations. At 69, she is promoting new music, experimenting with her image and, in this case, apparently taking a little inspiration from her own son.
