Ringo Starr Says The Beatles Would Have Reunited If John Lennon And George Harrison Were Still Alive

More than half a century after the Beatles went their separate ways, Ringo Starr still wonders what might have happened if all four bandmates had lived longer. The drummer recently reflected on John Lennon and George Harrison, sharing a bittersweet thought about the music the legendary group might have made together again.

According to PageSix, Starr believes a Beatles reunion could eventually have happened if Lennon and Harrison were still alive. Rather than focusing only on the music they might have created, however, his comments revealed how deeply he still misses the friendship and sense of family he found with his three bandmates.

“I do think we possibly would have gotten together sometime,” Starr told Page Six while imagining a world in which all four Beatles were still around. Lennon died in 1980 at age 40, while Harrison died from cancer in 2001 at 58. Starr also paused to acknowledge how much he still misses Harrison, making the possibility feel especially personal rather than simply a question about the band’s music.

What Starr misses most, he explained, is “the friendship, the togetherness, the support of each other.” As an only child, he came to think of Lennon, Harrison, and Paul McCartney as the brothers he never had. Their relationship included arguments and periods apart, but Starr remembers the bond alongside the extraordinary music they created during The Beatles’ relatively short eight-year run.

Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney Have Kept Their Friendship Going

Starr still shares a close bond with McCartney, speaking with him regularly and occasionally collaborating in the studio. For fans hoping for another Beatles reunion, those moments keep some of the band’s chemistry alive. Interest also continues with Sam Mendes’ four interconnected Beatles films, set for 2028 with Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, Joseph Quinn, and Barry Keoghan.

Starr stayed busy in 2026 with Long Long Road, his 22nd solo album and second collaboration with T Bone Burnett, featuring Sheryl Crow, St. Vincent, Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, and Sarah Jarosz. Decades after Beatlemania, Starr’s reflections show that his memories go beyond fame to the friendship shared by four young men who created, argued, laughed, and grew up together. Whether a Beatles reunion would have happened remains unknown, but Starr clearly still treasures that bond.
