Prince Jackson Makes Rare Appearance To Celebrate What Would Have Been Dad Michael Jackson’s 68th Birthday

Michael Jackson’s eldest son stepped into the spotlight for an emotional reason over the weekend. Prince Jackson made a rare public appearance in Las Vegas to celebrate what would have been his father’s 68th birthday on August 29, joining fans in remembering the King of Pop more than 17 years after his death.

According to PageSix, the 29-year-old attended Cirque du Soleil’s “Michael Jackson ONE” show, where the occasion turned into a shared celebration of the late superstar. Dressed casually in a black shirt and backwards baseball cap, Prince appeared comfortable among the crowd, chatting with attendees and seemingly signing autographs as fans gathered to honor his father.

Video footage from the celebration captured one especially touching moment. As the crowd counted to three, Jackson raised his hand and joined everyone in shouting, “Happy birthday, Michael!” The simple gesture gave fans a rare opportunity to celebrate the music icon alongside one of the people who knew him most personally.

The Las Vegas appearance continues a pattern of Jackson honoring his father in meaningful but understated ways. At the Los Angeles premiere of the 2026 biopic “Michael,” he incorporated a particularly personal piece of family history into his outfit. His red armband was made from fabric connected to a red corduroy shirt his father often wore, clothing that Jackson remembered from childhood hugs with his dad.

Michael Jackson’s Legacy Remains Close to His Children

Michael shared three children—Prince, Paris, and Bigi—who have mostly lived outside their father’s intense spotlight. They occasionally reunite for major family moments, including Tito Jackson’s 2024 funeral. Prince also helped preserve Michael’s legacy as an executive producer on the 2026 biopic Michael, describing his father as one of the most misunderstood people in the public eye.

Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009, at age 50. Yet his eldest son has spoken about remembrance as a way of keeping loved ones present. In a 2022 interview, he shared the belief that people are never truly gone as long as they continue to be celebrated. That sentiment felt especially appropriate in Las Vegas. More than a decade after Michael’s passing, fans were once again singing, gathering, and celebrating his birthday—this time with his son standing among them. It was a quiet but powerful reminder that behind the global legacy of the King of Pop remains a family carrying deeply personal memories of the man they simply knew as Dad.
