‘The Munsters’ Pat Priest Celebrates 90th Birthday Decades After Leaving Hollywood

by Ruth A

Published August 17, 2026

Pat Priest has reached a milestone that will make longtime television fans smile. The actress best remembered as Marilyn Munster celebrated her 90th birthday on August 15, 2026, more than 60 years after she first walked into 1313 Mockingbird Lane. Priest was born on August 15, 1936, in Bountiful, Utah.

According to Remind, at 90, Pat Priest remains a beloved connection to one of television’s quirkiest families. She stepped away from Hollywood decades ago, but she never completely left The Munsters behind. Over the years, she has appeared at fan conventions, reunited with former co-star Butch Patrick, and even returned to the franchise for a small part in the 2022 Munsters movie.

Pat Priest Became The “Normal” Member Of A Very Unusual Family

Priest joined The Munsters during its first season after Beverley Owen left the role of Marilyn. The joke surrounding Marilyn was wonderfully backwards: she was a conventionally attractive young blonde, yet her vampire, werewolf, and Frankenstein-inspired relatives considered her the unfortunate-looking member of the family. Priest stayed with the sitcom until its cancellation in 1966.

Her career continued after the doors closed at Mockingbird Lane. Priest appeared on television series including Bewitched, Perry Mason, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. She also worked with Elvis Presley in the 1967 musical comedy Easy Come, Easy Go and later appeared in the cult horror movie The Incredible Two-Headed Transplant. When Universal made the 1966 feature Munster, Go Home!, however, the studio cast Debbie Watson as Marilyn instead of Priest.

Eventually, Priest traded Hollywood for a quieter life in Idaho. She restored and sold homes and also ran an antiques business with her sister. Even after leaving regular acting behind, she continued embracing the sitcom that made her famous, occasionally joining Butch Patrick at nostalgia conventions and meeting generations of viewers who discovered The Munsters long after its original run.

Her connection to the Munster family even came full circle in 2022. Priest provided the voice of a Transylvania Airlines announcer in Rob Zombie’s The Munsters, decades after she last regularly played Marilyn. For fans who remember her as the cheerful blonde surrounded by cobwebs, coffins, and monsters, seeing Pat Priest reach 90 adds another warm chapter to the show’s enduring story. The sitcom lasted only two seasons, but its strange family became a lasting part of television history, and Priest remains one of the familiar faces helping keep those memories alive.
