Major Egg Recall Issued, Consumers Urged To Review Recent Purchases

Residents in Sacramento and Davis are checking their refrigerators after a recent People report revealed a new egg recall from Veg Farms. The update has drawn attention because eggs are a daily staple, and any safety alert can create worry for families who rely on them for simple meals.

The California Department of Public Health announced the egg recall after Veg Farms detected possible Salmonella contamination. The notice covers several dates and packages, so many households now feel the need to confirm which products they purchased. As more residents learn about the recall, the situation encourages them to take quick action.

The reference article states that the egg recall includes 12-count cartons and 30-count flats with sell-by dates of December 22 and earlier. These eggs carry handler code 2136 and reached both restaurants and farmers’ markets in the region. A spokesperson for Veg Farms said the contamination came from processing equipment, which helped explain the source of the issue.

Veg Farms removed the affected eggs from stores and urged customers to throw away any product included in the egg recall. No illnesses have been reported. The company continues to follow the situation, but it did not provide further comments when contacted. The information provided by People stresses that discarding the eggs remains the safest choice.

The reference article also includes guidance from the Food & Drug Administration. Symptoms of Salmonella infection can include fever, stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhea, and headaches. Most people recover within a few days, but infants, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems face higher risks. The article explains that Salmonella can damage the intestinal lining, which leads to dehydration and other discomforts.

This egg recall adds to several contamination issues reported earlier this year, including one involving mixed nuts. These events show how important it is to handle and store food with care.
