Jason Ritter’s path to Hollywood began in an unexpected way. The 45-year-old actor is the son of late sitcom legend John Ritter and actress Nancy Morgan. Before audiences knew him for roles in Parenthood or A Million Little Things, Jason appeared on-screen as a toddler. His first cameo wasn’t in a speaking part but in the opening credits of his father’s famous show, Three’s Company.
The surprise reveal came during the Southfork Experience: Three’s Company panel on Aug. 10. John’s longtime costar Joyce DeWitt recalled how Jason Ritter slipped into the sequence. She shared the story with fans, smiling at the memory, and noted that it was never planned. Instead, it captured the playful spirit that often surrounded filming the lighthearted sitcom.
Jason’s Surprise Cameo in the Credits
According to People, the show’s director, Dave Powers, often filmed the credits in a spontaneous style. Family members of the cast and crew were sometimes present during production days. The relaxed atmosphere allowed for unexpected moments, and one day, John Ritter’s son wandered into the spotlight.
“In my credit, where I’m down and this little boy toddles in, that’s Jason Ritter, John’s first child,” DeWitt explained. She remembered him in tiny blue overalls as he walked into the shot. That unplanned moment became his first television appearance. Jason then remained in the credits from seasons six through eight, though most viewers never realized who the child was.
Following in His Father’s Footsteps
John Ritter’s son grew up to carry his father’s legacy into his own career. Jason has starred in both television and film, showing his versatility in comedies, dramas, and voice work. Fans admire the way he blends his natural humor with heartfelt performances.
In recent years, Jason has also drawn attention for his strong resemblance to his father. A social media clip of him doing a perfect impression of John’s Three’s Company character left fans emotional. In interviews, Jason has said he grew up in a “funny household” where laughter shaped family life. Today, he continues to honor John Ritter by bringing warmth and humor to his own roles.
