Doug the Bounty Hunter’s step-grandson Anthony has reportedly died. TMZ reports that Anthony, age 13, was allegedly accidentally shot by his father, Gregory Zecca, who is in turn the son of Dog’s wife Francie. The outlet reports that the accident took place on Saturday at their apartment in Naples, Florida.
TMZ first reported on the incident, which has been described as a “freak accident” on Sunday. Duane “Dog” Chapman is a reality TV star known as a bounty hunter and bail bondsman. He has shared that his wife Francie has two sons who are hunters. Back in 2023, Chapman revealed that he had recently discovered he had also fathered a son named Jon.

Outlets report that Chapman’s stepson, Gregory, accidentally shot Anthony, leading to the teen’s death. As of Monday, the local sheriff confirmed to People that no arrests have been made, but an investigation is underway.
“Deputies responded to a shooting on Sumter Grove Way at 8:08 p.m. Saturday,” he shared. “This is an isolated incident. No arrest has been made.”
He went on, “The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a thorough investigation looking into all the elements of this tragic incident. The investigation includes statements from witnesses who were at the scene, forensic testing, subpoenas, and search warrants.”

Chapman shared a statement with TMZ. According to People, Chapman and his family said, “We are grieving as a family over this incomprehensible, tragic accident and would ask for continued prayers as we grieve the loss of our beloved grandson, Anthony.”
This loss follows another heartbreak Chapman has endured, that being the death of his previous wife, Beth Chapman, who passed away on June 26, 2019, at the age of 51. Back in 2017, she had successfully undergone surgery for throat cancer, but then underwent emergency surgery the November before her passing to address a blockage that had appeared in her throat. Leading up to her death, she was admitted to the intensive care unit at the Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu, where she was placed in a medically-induced coma.
