Kelly Osbourne recently spoke about her weight loss journey at the Beacher Vitality Happy & Healthy Summit in Los Angeles. The 40-year-old reality star, known from The Osbournes, Fashion Police, and Dancing with the Stars, said she has always been on the heavier side. For years, she was seen as the “chubby daughter” of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne.
That image stayed with her until she made a dramatic body transformation. Even though she lost weight and got praise for her new look, the process was not easy. At the summit on Saturday, she opened up about how much pressure and pain came with the way people talked about her body.
Kelly Osbourne was bullied for her weight more than her past addictions
Osbourne told the crowd that being overweight brought more hate than her struggles with addiction. She said people were more upset about her weight than the fact that she had been addicted to drugs and alcohol.
The 40-year-old also explained how comments about her body stayed with her for years. She tried everything to lose weight, including surgery, medication, diets, and workouts. None of it worked until she focused on her mental health. Once she felt better emotionally, her body started to change, too.
Kelly Osbourne hid her pregnancy to avoid being fat-shamed
In 2023, Osbourne said she kept her pregnancy private because she didn’t want to be judged for her size. She spent nine months at home with her father, away from cameras and public events. She said it was a peaceful time, but she made the choice because of fear. Even though she was excited to become a mother, she feared how the public would react to her pregnant body.
Osbourne said that pressure made her avoid the spotlight while expecting her son with musician Sid Wilson. She also called out the way people treat pregnant celebrities, using Jessica Simpson as an example. Osbourne said what happened to Simpson was wrong, and she didn’t want the same thing to happen to her.
