John Stamos recently joined Drumeo’s popular YouTube series For The First Time, where musicians try to play a song without ever hearing it. Host Brandon Toews visited Stamos at home, where the actor already had his drum set ready. The series has featured other drummers and celebrities, all trying to figure out unfamiliar songs by sound alone.

Although most people know him as an actor, Stamos has been playing drums for years and often joins concerts as a guest performer. This challenge gave fans a chance to see him in a different setting, using only his ear and experience to take on a fast-paced rock song.

In the new episode released on April 25, Stamos was asked to play drums on Papa Roach’s hit song “Last Resort” from 2003. As he started playing, his wife, Caitlin, and son, Billy, walked in briefly, jokingly covering their ears. After two more takes, Stamos got more comfortable with the song’s rhythm and energy. After finishing the challenge, he asked if the track was by Ozzy Osbourne.

Toews revealed the original version with drums and shared that David Buckner from Papa Roach played them. He also mentioned that Stamos’ version wasn’t too far off. His timing and fills matched up with some of the original parts, even without any prep.

This was not the first time Stamos showed off his drumming. In July 2024, he joined The Beach Boys during their Endless Summer Gold tour in Michigan. His young son Billy played with him on stage during “Good Vibrations,” and Stamos later posted the clip on Instagram.
