Joan Collins is reliving the experience of having two toddlers. The 91-year-old actress took to Instagram this weekend to mark Mother’s Day in the U.K. with a nostalgic note to her early years of parenthood. She delighted fans with a rare black-and-white photograph from the 1960s featuring her eldest children, Tara and Alexander.
The legendary mother of three first became a mother during her marriage to actor and songwriter Anthony Newley. The couple married in 1963 when Joan was already expecting their first child. She was 29 then and had been an actress for ten years; Joan would later recall that even though she was a bit bored and broody, her first child, Tara, became the center of her world.

In the picture, the Dynasty star looked effortlessly glamorous in a baker boy cap and a tailored coat dress, posing with her children during a family trip decades ago. She captioned the post, “Sending love…and STRENGTH…to all mothers today…particularly those with #twoundertwo. I should know.”
Tara was born on October 12, 1963, followed by Joan’s son Alexander, also known as Sacha, on September 8, 1965. With two young children, Joan described herself as a “full-on, hands-on mother” during those early years, caring for her children while juggling the demands of life in Beverly Hills.
Although she made a brief career hiatus, Joan soon returned to acting, which was when she rediscovered her passion for the craft. Joan Collins and Anthony Newley divorced in 1971, and she married music executive Ron Kass the following year. Even though she was determined never to marry again, she could not resist tying the knot with Ron.
Motherhood
Joan and Ron welcomed their daughter Katyana, known as Katy, in 1972. Their romance began while Ron was still finalizing his divorce, yet they married and started their own family. However, their marriage ended in 1983.
Now married to film producer Percy Gibson since 2002, Joan splits her time between London and Los Angeles. She frequently shares moments with her children on social media, including reunions with Tara, Alexander, and Katyana.
