King Charles III has been courageously battling an unspecified type of cancer since his diagnosis was publicly announced by Buckingham Palace in February last year. The revelation initially led him to relieve himself from his royal duties as he began treatment, placing a premium on his health while the monarchy adjusted to his temporary absence. Despite his illness, the King has shown incredible fortitude, progressively returning to his official public engagements even though his treatment is still far from being completed.
However, his road to recuperation has not been without its fair share of challenges. According to a fresh update, King Charles recently had a minor medical emergency that sent him to the hospital for a short visit.
Buckingham Palace reveals the cause of King Charles’ hospitalization
In an official statement, Buckingham Palace revealed that King Charles III was briefly hospitalized on Thursday, March 27. They explained that the 76-year-old monarch, who has been undergoing medical care, experienced complications stemming from the side effects of his scheduled cancer treatment, thus requiring a period of observation in the hospital.
The palace stated that the King’s condition was not serious, as he was discharged the same day and returned to Clarence House, his official residence. King Charles recuperated and resumed official duties.

Following his unexpected hospitalization, the King had no option but to postpone all his engagements, which were already scheduled for Thursday afternoon and Friday. On Thursday evening, Buckingham Palace issued a statement confirming the modifications to the monarch’s itinerary, noting that the decision was made to prioritize his health and recovery in line with his doctors’ advice.
However, after a weekend of rest, the King returned to his regular work schedule. On April 1, the monarch hosted an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle, where he presented honors to recipients, including world champion heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson.
