Harry Potter has been a fan favorite ever since the release of the seven-book series. It gained even more awareness and popularity when it was adapted into a film. Children and adults widely watched the film, and to date, it remains one of the most influential fantasy franchises. Now, there is an upcoming Harry Potter series on HBO. While some feel it is unnecessary, many believe it is a great idea.
Details about the cast have been kept under wraps, but recent reports have confirmed that John Lithgow will play Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts. Lithgow has also shared his thoughts on taking on the role of the beloved Dumbledore.
John Lithgow reveals that he doesn’t feel intimidated about playing the legendary role

John Lithgow has shared that he is not nervous about playing Dumbledore. Instead, he sees it as another exciting role in his long career. “I don’t feel intimidated at all,” he said. “It’s a wonderful part, and I’m looking forward to it.” To prepare for the role, Lithgow has been reading the Harry Potter books and is currently halfway through the second one. “He also joked that playing Dumbledore “won’t be that hard a job.”
Lithgow acknowledged that this might be one of his final major roles. “By the time I finish filming, I’ll be 87,” he noted. “This will probably be the last thing I do.” Despite this, he remains excited about the project. He even called it a “grand adventure” and an impressive addition to his long career in television and theater.
Filming will begin in summer
Fans have had mixed reactions to the casting. Some are excited about Lithgow stepping into the role, while others are still adjusting to the idea of a new Harry Potter adaptation. Recently, there’s been news that Paapa Essiedu may get to play Severus Snape, although this has not been confirmed.
Filming for the series is expected to begin this summer. Lithgow, however, is unsure of his schedule and how much time he will need to spend in the U.K. He expects to travel frequently between the U.S. and the U.K. for this role.
