Nashville International Airport is set to be renamed after Dolly Parton
The petition initiated by Lydia Popovich and Dan Dion is advocating that the state of Tennessee honors one of its beloved icons. The duo explained that the petition was born out of their recognition of Parton’s immense contributions as an artist whose music promotes love, acceptance, and also as a committed philanthropist who has spearheaded several notable initiatives that have profoundly impacted society. Popovich and Dion claimed that naming the airport after Parton would serve as a lasting recognition of her influence.
This effort follows a recent legislative attempt to rename the airport after President Donald Trump, which was initially removed from consideration in February and ultimately failed in a House committee on March 18.
The petition has now gained popularity, reflecting a popular opinion among lovers of the musician, who have stirred up discussions on social media, expressing their opinions about the intended tribute to the legendary musician since it was initiated.
Scores of people who appreciate the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer enough to want to see her accomplishments meaningfully honored have now thrown their weight behind the cause, signing the online petition, which has now amassed over 11,000 signatures.
