It is popular knowledge that Sharon Osbourne has spent decades managing her husband, Ozzy Osbourne. She has made many decisions that have shaped and affected his career. While many of those choices led to his success, not every choice turned out to be the right one. In a recent interview, she opened up about one particular mistake that still haunts her.
During her interview on Billy Corgan’s The Magnificent Others podcast, Sharon revealed that she once prevented Ozzy from auditioning for Pirates of the Caribbean. At the time, she didn’t think the role was a good fit for him, but looking back, she shared that she regrets the decision.
Sharon Osbourne turned down a movie role for Ozzy Osbourne
Sharon explained that Ozzy had the opportunity to read for a role in the Disney franchise, but she rejected it without much consideration. Now, she thinks he would have been perfect for the movie. Billy Corgan agreed, stating that Ozzy’s persona would have been a great addition to the film.
Her regret increased when she realized that Johnny Depp, the star of the franchise, personally lobbied for another rock legend, Keith Richards, to join the series. Richards later appeared as Captain Teague, the father of Jack Sparrow, in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and On Stranger Tides. Given Ozzy’s dramatic personality and facial appearance, it’s easy to imagine him fitting right into the franchise. However, we can only imagine it might be almost impossible at this point.
Ozzy is preparing for his final show with Black Sabbath
Ozzy has always had a flair for drama, both in music and in entertainment, so it’s not strange that he has also had cameo appearances in films like Austin Powers in Goldmember and Little Nicky.
However, in recent years, his focus has shifted more toward his health. The rock legend was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2003, but he only revealed his condition publicly in 2020. Since then, he has faced mobility challenges and has gone through multiple surgeries and treatments to manage his symptoms.
Despite the health challenges, Ozzy is determined to give fans one last show. He may have difficulties moving his body, but he has no difficulty using his powerful voice. He is set to reunite with Black Sabbath for a final performance in July, and fans are eager to see the Prince of Darkness in action one more time.
