Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to the Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe, but this time, she will also be executive producing. Although she has put off the idea of a reboot for years, she is giving the show another shot and is determined to do things the right way this time.
Fans have expressed excitement at what she and the creative team have in store, especially after she teased that it will be a thrilling and nerve-wracking watch at the 12th Annual Makeup Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Awards event in Century City, California on Saturday.

Sarah acknowledged the team behind the project, including director Chloé Zhao and showrunners Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, saying they are a legendary set. The likes of Gail Berman, Fran and Kaz Kuzui, and Dolly Parton will be working with Sarah as executive producer while she also reprises her role as Buffy Summers.
Plans for the sequel began when Berman, Chloe and a very skeptical Sarah met to discuss the possibility of one. After several back and forth, they finally agreed to set the project in motion thanks to their shared love for the original.
What will the ‘Buffy’ sequel be about?
Sarah promised something exciting but new in the much-anticipated sequel, which will introduce and focus on a new slayer. Fans have expressed their anticipation for the new plot; however, someone asked that the loose ends about the character Angel needed to be addressed.
There are no confirmed details about the cast yet, but Buffy watchers hope most of the original actors make a comeback. “We loved the series and look forward to see a reboot!” someone gushed, while another anticipated more vampires with depth and more cinematic sunsets since Chloe is on board. “Can’t wait to see how they bring the magic back!” they exclaimed.
