Tom Cruise has shared some exciting details about the upcoming Mission: Impossible movie and fans are eager to see what’s in store, especially when it comes to the stunts. With speculation about whether this will be the final chapter in the franchise, the excitement is at an all-time high.

The Mission: Impossible series has been delivering excellence since its first film in 1996. Over the years, Ethan Hunt and his IMF team have taken on dangerous missions, intense chases, and near-impossible escapes. Now, with the eighth installment, Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning, the story continues.

What will happen in ‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning’

The last film, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part 1, ended with a major cliffhanger. Ethan Hunt and his team were up against a rogue AI system known as “The Entity” and its dangerous ally, Gabriel. The movie saw the shocking death of Ilsa Faust, a character played by Rebecca Ferguson since Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation (2015). Now, in The Final Reckoning, Ethan is determined to stop Gabriel and take down the AI before it’s too late.

Director Christopher McQuarrie has promised high stakes and action. And, of course, Tom Cruise has once again pushed the limits with his stunts. One of the most talked-about scenes involves him hanging onto a Boeing Stearman biplane at 10,000 feet — so challenging that he admitted he passed out while filming it.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see how it all unfolds. The Final Reckoning is set to hit theaters on May 23, 2025.

Who are the returning cast and the new faces we should expect to see?

Many familiar faces are back for this installment. Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, joined by Ving Rhames (Luther Stickell) and Simon Pegg (Benji Dunn), who have been part of the franchise for years. Other returning actors include Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, Pom Klementieff, and Henry Czerny.

One big comeback is Angela Bassett as CIA Director Erika Sloane, a character last seen in Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018). The film also introduces some new cast members, including Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham, Parks and Recreation’s Nick Offerman, Better Call Saul’s Bob Odenkirk, and Severance’s Tramell Tillman.

While the title might suggest a conclusion, neither Tom Cruise nor Christopher McQuarrie has confirmed that this will be the final film in the series. For now, all eyes are on The Final Reckoning. Will Ethan finally defeat the Entity? Will this be his last mission?
