Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars had a night to remember at the 67th Grammy Awards. The duo won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit song “Die With a Smile.” However, this was not the only newsworthy part of the awards ceremony for Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’. The duo, who have been praised for their chemistry, also performed an emotional tribute to Los Angeles. They sang “California Dreamin’” in honor of the city after the devastating wildfires that left many people homeless and destroyed several landmarks

Their performance was one of the most emotional moments of the night. The duo wore matching beige outfits and stood under dim golden lights, which gave the atmosphere a somber and intimate feeling. Mars’ smooth vocals harmonized with Gaga’s powerful voice perfectly.

As they sang, a video montage of the wildfire destruction played behind them, showing burned homes, displaced families, and firefighters risking their lives. The performance left many in the audience with tears in their eyes and some stars at the show gave them a standing ovation.

Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ focus on the wildfires is not shocking as The 2025 Grammys placed emphasis on honoring those affected by the wildfires. The night opened with a group performance of I Love L.A. with John Legend, Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley, and other artists. Throughout the event, many celebrities, including host Trevor Noah, wore blue pins supporting the MusiCares relief fund. Presenters and performers encouraged donations to help those who have been impacted by the wildfire.

Lady Gaga has been actively involved in relief efforts. On January 30, she performed at the FireAid benefit concert, where she delivered a solo rendition of “Shallow”, and a song she wrote with her fiancé, Michael Polansky. At the Grammys, she also used the platform to share the teaser for her upcoming album, Mayhem.

The LA wildfires caused massive destruction

The wildfires, which began on January 7, destroyed thousands of homes and businesses and caused residents to evacuate. The disaster claimed 29 lives, making it one of the worst in the city’s history. In response, the Recording Academy and MusiCares launched a relief fund to raise millions to support musicians and industry workers affected by the tragedy.

Beyond Gaga and Mars’ tribute, the ceremony also had several impressive performances. Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift also delivered emotional sets, while Kendrick Lamar’s powerful performance of “Not Like Us” had the crowd cheering.
