Will Ferrell graced a recent episode of the TODAY show where hosts Craig Melvin and Savannah Guthrie surprised him with a life-sized Animatronic of his Buddy The Elf character from his holiday hit movie, Elf. He was startled upon sighting “Buddy the Elf, ax murderer,” which looked more chilling than the friendly buddy we know and love.
Will admitted that he is aware of Buddy’s $199 animatronic that sold at Home Depot during the holidays, noting that he never saw it in real life until now. It wore the exact costume from the movie, featuring a green suit and matching festive headgear, yellow slacks, and a disturbing smile in this case.

Animatronic Buddy was placed beside Will in Studio 1A, and it recited a line from the timeless holiday classic, which went, “Why don’t you just say it? I’m the worst toy maker in the world. I’m a cotton-headed ninny muggins.” Will looked rather fascinated and jokingly asked if it was TODAY’S Halloween show.
He then joked about the life-size toy existing in the first place without his approval before attempting to take it off the set. The show hosts offered Will the elf, noting that they wanted him to feel at home and take it on the flight back home with him.

He explained that the decision simply came to him before the event and his wife indulged him, asking him not to laugh, hence his appearance. Will considered Elf one of the best movies in his catalog, noting that his family does not even wait until the holidays to rerun it as they watch it every July 4th.
