LA-Based Restaurateur Launches Food Delivery Service To Support Families Affected By Wildfires

LA fires

Marissa Hermer is among the Los Angeles residents affected by the unfortunate fires. She vacated her Pacific Palisades home on Wednesday and has now taken the initiative to help other displaced families by providing cooked meals. As a wife and mother, Marissa understands the dilemma of deciding what to eat in the current situation and has chosen to help.

She has opened the kitchens at her other restaurants in West Hollywood, Chez Mia and Olivetta, from which she makes and sends out meals to those in need. She said the uncertainty of the situation pushed her to focus on what she is good at, which is cooking.

The Restaurateur took to Instagram to share her initiative and request donations to feed displaced families. Her post also encouraged those in need to speak up, noting that families who would not find her announcement on time can still be nominated. Marissa called for volunteer drivers to assist with pickup too.

The public responded to Marissa’s kind gesture with enthusiasm, as the comment section was filled with volunteers wanting to help. Users also raised her for the help she is rendering, “You are a helper. We look for people like you in times of crisis,” a grateful follower wrote.

Update on the LA fires

Recent reports have exposed looters posing as firefighters, and Michael Lorenz, Captain of the Los Angeles Police Department, has mentioned that at least 29 people have been arrested so far. It is worthy of note that the criminals do not live in the areas where they got caught.

Twenty-five of those arrested were in the area of the Eaton Fire, while the other four were sighted at the Palisades fire evacuation area. A warning has been issued that non-public safety personnel should not be seen at these locations and everyone is to observe the 6 pm to 6 am local curfew.
