Amid the devastating wildfires raging in California, many celebrities and public figures have spoken about their concerns and losses. Among them is Lorna Luft, the daughter of Judy Garland and Sid Luft, who shared her childhood memories of Pacific Palisades, one of the areas affected by the disaster.
The 72-year-old singer expressed her sadness over the fires; however, she also voiced her gratitude for the safety of her loved ones in this trying period.

Luft revealed the role Pacific Palisades played in her upbringing. “I spent many, many years, many of my pre-teen, teenage, and adult years, in the Pacific Palisades, CA,” she wrote. Luft shared that she attended Pacific Palisades High School and still has close friends in the area. The actress, who is now living in Santa Monica, mentioned that she understands the horrific situation residents of Palisades are going through, as she still has close connections to the crisis, especially since she is the mother-in-law of an L.A. County firefighter.
Luft also thanked the firefighters, EMTs, police officers, and rescue teams working for working tirelessly to combat the fires. “Heroes to the max!” she said.
Many other celebrities have also been affected
The wildfires have caused widespread devastation, destroying hundreds of homes. Celebrity victims include Paris Hilton, whose Malibu property burned to the ground. She described the experience as “heartbreaking beyond words.” Mandy Moore also revealed that the Eaton fire has spread rapidly through her neighborhood.
Other celebrities include John Goodman, Sir Anthony Hopkins, and Billy Crystal, who have also experienced similar losses. Entire neighborhoods have been wiped out, and many have been displaced and grieving. As “one of the most destructive natural disasters in the history of Los Angeles” continues to spread, many pray and hope it comes to an end soon. They also pray for comfort for those who have lost their lives or properties.
