Maureen McCormick On ‘Brady Bunch’ Reboot: “It Would Have To Knock My Socks Off”

For generations, The Brady Bunch has been a go-to comfort show. The story of a blended family with six kids experiencing life’s ups and downs caught the attention of its audiences when it premiered in 1969 and even years after. As television reboots dominate screens, many wonder if the Brady’s will make a return even though they’ve had several spin-offs like The Brady Brides, The Brady Girls Get Married, and The Brady Kids.

Although reviving classics has become a trend in Hollywood, is a Brady Bunch reboot really in the cards? Recently, Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia Brady in the series, spoke to PEOPLE about the possibility of a Brady Bunch reboot.

Maureen McCormick is skeptical about a ‘Brady Bunch’ reboot

McCormick revealed that she doesn’t know if there’d be a reboot, but she has heard that some of the castmates were trying to put something together. However, the 68-year-old actress has her reservations; she shared that a revival would have to “knock her socks off” to even get her interested.  McCormick expressed her love for the original series, explaining that she feels “protective” of the series. “It’s so hard to do a reboot of something so loved,” she admitted.

Despite her hesitance, McCormick stays in touch with her Brady siblings and says she’s open to collaborations. She and her former castmates reunited in 2019 for A Very Brady Renovation, where they remodeled the house from the show. While that special allowed fans to experience the Brady Bunch again, the actress believes a scripted reboot would require a balance of creativity and respect for the original.

The people were the best part of “The Brady Bunch” for Maureen McCormick

On set, McCormick played the role of sister, Marcia, whose confidence and charisma often took center stage, and she portrayed it well. Despite her struggles with being in the spotlight at a young age, behind the scenes, she bonded with her castmates and formed lasting relationships. “The people were the best part,” she said, reminiscing about the crew and her on-screen family. She added that The Brady Bunch was an incredible show to be part of and her best memories of the show are the “people, the crew, and their families.”

Whether or not a reboot ever happens, McCormick’s time on The Brady Bunch has given her a great reputation in the industry and had great influence on her career.
