Although Tim Burton made a comeback with one of his classics, Beetlejuice, he is not keen on doing the same with others in his portfolio, especially Edward Scissorhands. He clarified this during a Q&A session at the Marrakech International Film Festival on Saturday.
Edward Scissorhands was one of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp’s most iconic films together, with the latter playing the title role. In fact, the 1990 classic was the start of their work relationship, as they went on to collaborate on hits like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and many more.

Tim Burton admitted that he has no desire to make an Edward Scissorhands sequel, just like he did not want one for A Night Before Christmas. He noted that some projects are best left as one-off hits, and should be left alone. Tim being a good judge of what needs a revival or not, Beetlejuice 2 was a success.
He originally refused to make Beetlejuice Beetlejuice but gave in to fan demands after finding a fitting script. The willingness of Michael Keaton, Wynona Ryder, and other core cast members to reprise their roles also contributed to the 2024 comeback of Beetlejuice.

Tim Burton and Johnny Depp’s last movie together was 2012’s Dark Shadows. The 61-year-old played vampire Barnabas Collins, who awakens in the ‘70s. The movie was based on his favorite childhood soap of the same name from the ‘60s.
He did more hit sequels not directed by Tim Burton, like Alice Through the Looking Glass, which was not as successful as the original Alice In Wonderland but did well at the box office regardless. Johnny Depp’s career took a hit in 2020 as his ex-wife Amber Heard accused him of abuse. He is gradually making his comeback and is set to appear in the upcoming The Carnival at the End of Days.
