Lundgren Dolph has shared good news of his recovery from cancer. The Rocky IV star made this announcement in an Instagram post some moments before going in for surgery. He expressed joy in the caption, “Health update—finally cancer-free with gratefulness and excitement for a bright future. Thanks for all your support always,” Lundgren wrote.
The Swedish-American actor known for his stoic roles in movies battled cancer for nine years before his recovery. However, during this period, Lungren Dolph did not allow his health issues to stop him from pursuing his career, as he starred in movies such as The Expendables 4, Aquaman, and The Lost Kingdom.
Lundgren Dolph’s cancer journey
Lundgren Dolph has been battling cancer since 2015, when he was first diagnosed with kidney cancer, but he was treated and declared free of the disease. However, five years later, doctors found a few more tumors in the same part of his body and one “the size of a lemon” in his liver.
At the time, the condition had worsened, and he was advised to “stop working and spend more time” with his family because he was presumed to have about two to three years to live. But Lundgren kept being hopeful even though the doctors could not do anything about it. It was during an interview on In Depth with Graham BensingeI in May 2023 that he shared details about his eight-year cancer journey with the public. The doctors could not.

However, despite how tough the situation was, Lundgren did not relent in his search for total recovery. He sought the opinion of another doctor at UCLA, and this turned out to be the solution he needed to save his life. The doctor found out that the other doctors had been “giving me the wrong treatments because they hadn’t really checked on all the biopsies.” Lundgreen shared.
As Lundgren Dolph started his cancer treatment, following the procedure highlighted by the second doctor, the size of the tumor was reduced by 90%. Earlier this week, he shared his excitement with fans on Instagram as he announced his recovery from cancer.
“Since there are no cancer cells in my body anymore, then I guess I’ll be cancer-free, so I’m looking forward to this procedure,” said Lundgren in his Instagram video. He expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the fans who have supported him on this journey.
