Macy’s is set to mark its highly anticipated annual event, the Thanksgiving Day Parade, for the 98th time, and it promises to be bigger than the previous ones. The 2024 parade promises performances by famous performers and six new balloon floats plus other entertaining side attractions.
This year’s event will be anchored by TODAY‘s Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker, and Hoda Kotb, with Jimmy Fallon from The Tonight Show also making an appearance. Actress Alison Brie has the honor of cutting the ribbon this year to kick off the breathtaking displays until Santa Claus shows up in the end.
What time does the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade start?
The parade starts at the Upper West Side of Manhattan, with the final stop at Macy’s Herald Square flagship store on 34th Street. Fans can watch the event on NBC from 8:30 am until noon on Thursday, November 28.
There will be a range of appearances from movie stars, singers, dancers, TV personalities, sports champions, and Broadway acts performing multiple musicals, including Radio City Rockettes, The Outsiders, Death Becomes Her, and Hell’s Kitchen. The parade’s house band, The Roots, will be on standby the whole time to add color to the display.
What to expect at this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade
The upcoming Thanksgiving Day parade will see six featured balloons—Minnie Mouse, Extraordinary Noorah & The Elf on the Shelf, Gabby’s Dollhouse Gabby, Spider-Man, Goku from Dragon Ball, and Marshall from Paw Patrol—on display for the first time.
Six new floats, Candy Cosmos by Haribo, Dora’s Fantastical Rainforest by Nickelodeon and Paramount, Magic Meets the Seas by Disney Cruise Line, Pasta Knight by Rao’s Homemade, Wondrous World of Wildlife by Bronx Zoo, and Masterfeast by Netflix, will also make their debut in this year’s parade. WNBA players from the New York Liberty will also be present with their mascot, Ellie the Elephant.
