Drew Barrymore let her The Drew Barrymore Show audience in on her life as a celebrity mom during a recent episode, where she recalled finding her daughter and Adam Sandler’s daughter watching 2004’s 50 First Dates together. Her guest, Emily Osment, said her kids were also fans of the romantic movie, adding that it made her cry on first watch.
Drew admitted to feeling confused that her kids had that much interest in her movies, knowing that they could be rejecting their parents’ preferences. She also found their interest in her past feats comforting and special.
Drew Barrymore’s daughter watched ‘50 First Dates’ with Adam Sandler’s daughter and Drew was so confused
50 First Dates saw Sandler’s character, Henry Roth, trying to make Drew’s Lucy Whitmore fall in love with him; however, he has to do this every morning as Lucy suffers from short-term memory loss. Drew once confessed that her kids are starting to ask about acting, which she would not allow until they age.
The 49-year-old is letting her kids do school plays for now, noting that she does not want to repeat her parents’ mistake of letting her be in the public eye too young. She was thrust into the spotlight at 7, after playing Gertie in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
Drew Barrymore teases a reunion with Adam Sandler
Aside from 50 First Dates, Demi and Sandler have worked together on other movies like The Wedding Singer and Blended. It has been a decade since they last collaborated, and Demi is looking forward to another movie with her cinematic soulmate.
While there is nothing in the works yet, Drew promises to waste no time once they find the right script. While Sandler, who also has two daughters, has yet to address Drew’s claims, he just concluded his second Netflix comedy stand-up special Adam Sandler: Love You, which comes after he was named Forbes’ best-paid actor of 2023.
