Having a famous mother like Goldie Hawn means having to share her with fans sometimes, and Oliver Hudson recalls hating the experience as a young boy. He shared some cons of having celebrity parents during a recent episode of his Sibling Revelry podcast, which he hosts with his sister, Kate Hudson.
Kate could relate to her older brother’s plight, noting that having a famous parent is like being an observant observer. She also highlighted the difference between modern-day attention from paparazzi and back then when fans would swarm celebrities in public.
Oliver Hudson admits to feeling sidelined by Goldie Hawn as a child
Oliver confessed to feeling neglected when fans would take Goldie’s attention off him while out together. They would sometimes get too excited and interrupt enjoyable moments between mother and son, causing Oliver to feel invaded and angry.
Now that Oliver is all grown up and a celebrity himself, he is more understanding of Goldie’s position at the time. He clarified in the follow-up episode that he was simply recounting his experience as a five or six-year-old, and not in a bid to discredit Goldie’s parenting.
Then and now
Kate has a different celebrity experience today as attention has shifted to the internet. She recalled only seeing the paparazzi at the airport, and outside of that, it was just fans trying to make contact. She acknowledged her mother’s effort to ignore the chaos while she and Oliver got to watch from the corner.
