The 90-year-old revealed in an interview with CBS Shirley that she first crossed path with the late star in the late 50s when she was 21 and Taylor was 23, and they built a solid relationship over the years and remained until Taylor’s passing in 2011.
Shirley described Elizabeth Taylor as “a magnificent human being” with whom she shared a special bond. Shirley recalled their time together, saying, “We hung out for quite a while.” It seems no one has been able to fill the void in Shirley’s heart since Taylor’s death as she reminisced on the memories she shared with her.

During the discussion, when asked what she misses most about Taylor, Shirley replied, “her realness.” She said the late actress did not see herself as “Elizabeth Taylor” as she cared more about “humanity,” so matching her lifestyle with her successful name makes it seem more like she was putting on a show.
