A few months after celebrating her 90th birthday, Shirley MacLaine was seen out with a friend in Malibu for some 4th of July lunch at Kristy’s Cafe. The iconic actress looked cheerful as she strutted the street in a purple shirt and a matching hoodie and sweatpant set.
She wore a pair of brown trainers and threw on a visor over her short silver hair to protect her face from the sun. After a good meal with her buddy, Shirley’s caretaker accompanied her to the vehicle. She did not seem to need much help as she moved with grace, arm-in-arm with her carer.

Shirley’s birthday celebration at Kristy’s in April doubled as her announcement date for an upcoming book titled The Wall of Life, which tells significant stories about her journey so far. The memoir— which will be released in October, is a chance for Shirley to share her life with readers through writing and memories frozen in pictures.

Explaining the inspiration behind her book, Shirley recalled framing photos of her loved ones nearly five decades ago and keeping them on her living room wall. Friends would visit and be visibly touched by the pictures and the memories in her home, hence the idea and title of the much-anticipated read.
Work never stops
Shirley remains determined to do more work despite her age and has earned numerous accolades, including an Oscar, an Emmy, multiple Golden Globes, and two BAFTAS, across her 80-year career. She is also starring in Brad Furman’s upcoming movie, People Not Places. She recently made it clear that she can keep working and is grateful to keep it that way.
When she is not on set, Shirley enjoys the natural scenery on her ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico, where she watches different animals and relaxes with cleaner air. As with her job, Shirley does not joke about her health-maintaining practices such as physical activity and relaxation exercises; however, she does not see the need to diet or restrict her cravings.
