You might remember Pamela Jayne Soles (also known as PJ Soles) as one of the famous scream queens of the ‘70s, with credits in hit movies like Halloween and Carrie. The Frankfurt-born actress began her career in the spotlight with modeling gigs and commercials after moving to the US for college.
She soon dropped out to follow the fame that she had quickly achieved with the role of Norma Watson in Carrie. She followed up with a few more TV movies, classic hits, and then comedy before her career went down from its peak.

After her 1976 breakthrough role, Soles starred alongside her co-star-turned-ex-husband Dennis Quaid in Our Winning Season and landed another part alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in Halloween. Although her characters did not survive in either of her scream hits, Soles’ delivery in both was unforgettable.
The ‘80s marked her transition into comedy after her attempt with the cult classic Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, in which she played a high school student who joined a popular punk band. Next came Private Benjamin with Goldie Hawn and then Stripes with Bill Murray. These opened doors to more movies and series well into the mid-90s.

Most of Soles’ roles in the early 2000s were nods to her breakthrough scream queen ones, thanks to a nostalgic demand for classics. The Local H band from Illinois even made an album titled Whatever Happened To PJ Soles in 2004 after her appearance as Riff Randell in The Donnas’ “Too Bad About Your Girl.”
More recently, Soles has returned to her original genre via low-budget films and regularly attended horror conventions where she loves to connect with fans. She is a mother of two from her third marriage to Skip Holm, whom she divorced in 1998.
