After a few legal battles over Graceland, including an alleged fallout with her grandmother Priscilla Presley, Riley Keough emerged as sole trustee and owner of the famous estate, which her celebrity grandad Elvis Presley acquired in the late ‘50s.
The 35-year-old is settling into her latest responsibility after the death of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, and is assuring fans of the Presley household that the historic property is in safe hands. Like the matriarchs before her, Riley intends to preserve Graceland for more years.
Riley Keough is also preserving memories for Graceland now
Riley is not only preserving Graceland, but she is also making sure her mother’s legacy and memory outlive her, as she is set to release Lisa Marie’s posthumous memoir From Here to the Great Unknown, in October. She put effort into completing the book, thanks to tapes left by Lisa Marie before her passing.
Excerpts from the memoir have offered a glimpse into Lisa Marie’s personality beyond the spotlight, proving that the book will bring life to her person and experiences— just like Riley intends. In her words, Riley wants to showcase Lisa Marie as a mother and a child to one of history’s most famous musicians.
Riley Keough documents Lisa Marie Presley’s relationship with Elvis Presley
Lisa Marie was just 9 when Elvis died in 1977, but she did make wholesome memories with the rock star. Riley has done a good job of compiling these moments into the memoir, which has an adorable photo of Elvis holding Lisa Marie as a baby. From Here to the Great Unknown also reflects Lisa Marie’s relationship with her kids and how open she was with Riley.
In the spirit of passing on legacies, Riley also looks forward to when her daughter Tupelo will read the book. Riley, who is married to stuntman Ben Smith-Petersen, acknowledged the privilege of coming from a family line with well-documented stories and hopes to keep the tradition alive.
