Dustin Hoffman may just be set to say goodbye to Hollywood after his last movie, Megalopolis was dubbed by critics a “confusing bloated mess’’ and “cinematic insanity.” The movie directed by accomplished Director Francis Ford Coppola’s was highly anticipated but has unfortunately received scathing early reviews, with critics labeling the $120 million project “self-indulgent” and “bat-s— crazy.”

According to a source, Hoffman is disappointed that his award-winning career may conclude on a sour note with the critically panned film Megalopolis. Megalopolis is now likely to be remembered as one of the biggest flops in film history. The futuristic epic, set in an imagined modern America, reunites Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight alongside Adam Driver, Aubrey Plaza, and Nathalie. It follows the clash between Cesar Catilina, a visionary artist seeking utopian change, and Mayor Franklyn Cicero, committed to maintaining the status quo. Julia Cicero, the mayor’s daughter, is torn between her love for Cesar and loyalty to her father. Hoffman played the role of Nush Berman in the movie.

Megalopolis featured a cast of controversial actors, including Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, and Dustin Hoffman, who have faced allegations of abuse, conservative politics, and misconduct, respectively. Coppola said in an interview that he intentionally chose “canceled” actors to avoid creating a “woke” lecture film. He sought diversity in perspectives, bringing together individuals with differing views to collaborate on the project.

However, the film’s promotion faced additional controversy when Lionsgate pulled its trailer after admitting to using fabricated quotes praising the movie.

The Academy Award-winning actor boasts an illustrious career, garnering numerous accolades over the years. His impressive Oscar record includes two Best Actor wins for Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) and Rain Man (1988), out of seven total nominations. Hoffman’s additional Best Actor nominations were for The Graduate (1967), Midnight Cowboy (1969), Lenny (1974), Tootsie (1982), and Wag the Dog (1997).

Beyond his Oscar success, Hoffman has earned five Golden Globe Awards and two BAFTA Awards, in addition to dozens of nominations from prominent film awards. With or without Megalopolis, Hoffman’s achievements solidify his status as one of the most accomplished actors in the film industry.

However, Hoffman’s career was marred when he faced numerous allegations of sexual assault and harassment in 2017, including accusations from seven women, one of whom was a minor at the time. While Hoffman initially expressed remorse and apologized, his representatives later dismissed further allegations as false and defamatory.
