They’ve been famously paired together in three movies now and even away from the cameras they maintain an enduring friendship. Not colleagues but companions, Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler stay in each other’s orbit all year every year. In fact, Sandler has been privy to knowledge about a medical battle Aniston endured and he’s devotedly sent her tokens of appreciation every year in response.
“We were friends before Friends,” reflected Aniston in 2019. So, they were friends for some time when Aniston started having fertility troubles, wishing desperately to have a baby. So, each year, Sandler and his wife send flowers to Aniston in honor of her experience.

In a new interview with The Wall Street Journal, Aniston revealed that Sandler, along with his wife, Jackie, have a yearly tradition of sending her a bouquet of flowers as a sign of love and support. Not only is the gesture itself a mark of the lasting friendship between these two – but so is the very fact that Sandler knows of what Aniston went through.

“I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road,” she shared of a journey that was, for the most part, kept overwhelmingly private. In her 2022 interview with Allure, she continued, “All the years and years of speculation. It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it. I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.”
But immediately after finding out about Aniston’s IVF struggles, Sandler started this sweet tradition.
The friendship between Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler
While their big first project together was 2011’s Just Go with It, Aniston and Sandler’s friendship dates back even further. The two first “met at Jerry’s Deli in 1990-91,” revealed Aniston in 2019, appearing beside Sandler on Jimmy Kimmel Live! At the time, she had been dating a friend of his. “It was fun. We had breakfast together.”
Their bond was easy and strong. “[We love each other],” added Aniston, “We must have been real family in another life.”
“We’re so comfortable with each other,” agreed Sandler. “She knows my family and I know hers.” In fact, Aniston is buddies with his wife! He went on, “She and my wife have a nice time tag-teaming to try to make me a healthier human being. Like, they want me to stretch more — eventually be able to touch my toes, which I’m about 9 inches away from.”
Sandler added, “But Jen’s also just funny as hell, and she makes you so happy. When we go to parties with her, there’s no leaving the party. At 1 in the morning, I’ll say to my wife, ‘We’re going to keep going, huh?'”
