With Pat Sajak dropping his Wheel of Fortune hosting duties after four decades and Ryan Seacrest taking over, it is only right that the retired game show anchor is honored for his long years of service. With the new season approaching, fans are eager to see what’s in store as teasers drop.
Pat’s daughter Maggie Sajak, who is also the social media correspondent for Wheel of Fortune, recently revealed that part of the new stage setup is a tribute to her dad. Although the set has been redesigned ahead of season 42, one cannot miss the nostalgic detail on the puzzle board.

According to Maggie, the golden borders around the puzzle board pays homage to the 1980s when Wheel of Fortune became popular. She added that this detail blends in gracefully with the modern elements that fans cannot wait to see. An enthusiastic Ryan has also given loyal viewers a glimpse into the set via his social media.

It appears Maggie is just as elated for the new season, despite talks that she should have replaced Pat instead of Ryan. The 29-year-old began working on the show in 2021, and has filled in for Vanna White occasionally and when Pat underwent surgery.
While Maggie appears to have been passed up, it is likely that she takes over from Vanna, who has worked with Pat on the game show since 1983. The letter-turner herself has reportedly expressed her desire to see Maggie function in her place as her retirement looms.
With Ryan signed to host Wheel of Fortune into the 2030s, Maggie’s promotion to match as Ryan’s young partner might just be around the corner. Vanna has admitted to having a hard time getting along with Ryan due to differences in generations and relatability; however, the 67-year-old is keeping an open mind for what lies ahead.
